“Starting out as a beginner seemed extremely daunting however after the first lesson I stopped worrying, Jim’s patience, calmness and step by step methods meat that I never once felt worried or overloaded. Being able to move lessons to suit other commitments meant all my lessons were convenient.

Throughout the training skills were built up and practiced and I progressed quickly and before I knew it I was feeling confident about driving and was thinking about my test.

The confidence and skills I gained allowed me to pass first time and unlike many of my friends with other instructors, I felt fully prepared before my test and drew confidence from the knowledge that I would have only been put in for my test if Jim thought I was ready.

Jim is a great instructor and I have enjoyed my experience so much that I will be doing the pass plus course with him; I would recommend Jim to anyone who is learning to drive as I truly believe you will have an extremely tough job finding an instructor that will give you such a fantastic experience.

"I first heard about Nexus Driver Training from a friend who was a student of Jim’s, she recommend him to me as my instructor and I’m really glad she did.
Jim didn’t just teach me how to pass a test, he taught me how to be a safe, confident and considerate driver.

I never had any problems with Jim. He was punctual, friendly and very organized. At the beginning of every lesson we went over what I’d be doing during the lesson so I would be prepared, and not once did I feel pressured to do something I wasn’t comfortable with. Jim arranged the lessons to suit myself.

He recognized areas that I may not have been comfortable with and helped me improve them in a calm and steady way. "I moved here in 2009,desperate to find a good driving instructor, as where I lived meant I needed to drive in order to get on with every day things.

Jim was the first instructor I came across so therefore I was a bit concerned about learning with him. However after my first lesson we chatted and I had a drive and I was positive he was the right person to teach me.

That was August 2009 and in March 2010 I took my test. I had no confidence at all about passing but I passed, just as Jim predicted, first time, with only 1 minor!!

Jim was a brilliant instructor, I could give him endless praise and there's not enough room on here to list it all. So all I will say is if your looking for an instructor you can trust to only put you in for your test when your ready, teach you everything you will ever need to know in such a way that you actually feel like you've learnt everything yourself, someone you can really get along with and talk to about any concerns you have, then Jims DEFINITELY the man to ring.

"A very big thank you Jim.

I have had two other instructors over the past 9 years, one of whom fell asleep during a lesson and was more interested in talking about other students, and another that kept shouting at me which resulted in me getting out of the car and walking home.

So as you can understand, finding a good instructor was top of my list when I decided to learn to drive again, as this time I didn't want to give up and thanks to Jim I didn't.

I was quite a nervous driver in the beginning but Jim only ever encouraged me and helped build my confidence. In each lesson I was never shouted at or made to feel useless, all manoeuvres were explained in small steps so I could understand and when necessary, Jim would demonstrate them which helped me a lot.

Each week I got more and more confident and began to enjoy driving. Jim has been brilliant, always on time and never rushed, we chatted in each lesson about anything I was unsure of or wanted to do and lessons progressed well.

My son has passed with Jim and my daughter has her test booked, so I would defiantly recommend Jim to teach anyone to drive, he is patient, friendly and welcoming.

"Learning to drive with Jim has been a fantastic experience and one that I have really enjoyed. The lessons each had a specific plan and format, specially tailored to what I had learnt in previous weeks and how quickly I was progressing. Each lesson pushed back the limitations of my driving ability and allowed me to really get the sense of fun that is critical when learning something new. This allowed me to progress quickly so my confidence grew and grew, so I became increasingly comfortable and confident whilst driving.

At the beginning of my tuition with Jim I was nervous that I would be unable to get along with the instructor, or that I would be unable to meet the requirements that the instructor may set for me. However, Jim immediately put me at ease with his calm and laid back style. He spoke to me calmly and kindly, so I immediately knew that we would get along and his instruction was exactly what I needed; when he first began teaching me the cockpit drill he spoke so well and explained everything, so I picked it up very quickly and that was how his instruction continued.

Jim has been a constant source of support and has consistently built up my confidence with reassuring advice and teaching. He has always remained calm and has allowed me to progress at my own speed and has been intuitive enough to know when I needed to stop learning new skills and just practice the
current set.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time learning with Jim and with his teaching and guidance I have been able to pass my test first time, and feel confident enough

"I had my first lesson with Jim on my 17th Birthday and 3months later I am now on the road.

Every lesson I had with Jim I enjoyed.  I found Jim's methods and sayings a very helpful way to remember important factors of driving.  Jim explains every factor, and if there was ever anything that I was having trouble grasping or understanding, he would pull over and explain again, always offering help or demonstrations to guide me through.

"Before I came to Jim I had had two tests and was suffering from a lack of confidence due to this. Having always had problems with confidence anyway, I found learning to drive more difficult than other people I know. This was an issue that my previous driving instructor had not picked up on and as such my driving suffered. 

However, when I went to Jim it took him only a couple of lessons to identify that it was my confidence that was holding me back. He assured me that I was a good driver and that with plenty of practice I would surely pass my test. He managed to make lessons very simple for me through efficient techniques for manoeuvres and general driving, making everything seem so much easier than it had been in the past.

My driving lessons also became very enjoyable with Jim rather than being something I had dreaded in the past. When I did come to take my test I passed with only four driving faults, which for me was a fantastic achievement that I could not have gained without the help of Jim.

He is a great driving instructor who makes lessons enjoyable and easy to grasp, something that was very important to me, but will also be very good for people who are completely new to driving.

"Since a child I’ve always had a slight fear of driving and of cars, even being driven by my dad sometimes worried me. So when my 17th birthday began to grow nearer and my desire to learn to drive grew greater, I was worried my tendency to be a nervous passenger would become a problem.

Before every lesson I would get quite anxious but as soon as I started driving, my worries would go.

Jim always knew how to make our lessons enjoyable. He knew when it was time to stop for a minute to discuss something and when it was time to progress on to something new.

As my test grew nearer, I felt apprehensive and very nervous. But as always, Jims encouraging words gave me the confidence and the urge to pass. I now love driving and the freedom that comes with it!

"I would recommend Jim to anyone who is thinking about embarking on driving lessons.I had first started learning to drive with another instructor some twenty years back and this was disastrous as he continually got angry with me and also put me in for my test long before I was ready for it. Needless to say I failed three times and lost confidence. I then waited twenty years before trying again and it was with some trepidation that I rang Jim up and booked a lesson. I can honestly say, I knew straight away that I had picked the right instructor.

Jim is a thoroughly professional, patient and calm teacher who has the skills needed to ensure that a new driver is not only confident but safe on the road too. I found his method of teaching suited me perfectly as he explains everything so clearly and doesn't mind how many times he has to repeat his explanations or go over a certain manoeuvre! "For my 17th birthday, I was given some driving lessons by my parents, much to my surprise. Fortunately, my parents spent time researching, and found the perfect instructor in Jim. After arranging my lessons to suit schooling and other commitments, with which Jim was very flexible, I began an experience that would not only enable me to pass my test, but more importantly teach me how to drive in a responsible and safe manner using the systems Jim taught me.

Starting as a complete beginner, Jim taught me the basics immediately, and throughout our lessons gradually built up all the skills necessary to allow me to be a complete driver. Jim was brilliant at judging when I was ready to move on or needed to revisit a certain area, and made sure that I was confident in what I was doing rather than putting too much on me. However, the lessons were always challenging and progressive, with each lesson being planned in advance, so it was always clear where we were going and what we were hoping to achieve. Jim was always calm and it was great how keen Jim was to get me behind the seat and driving. Before attempting anything however, the theoretical side was always fully covered by Jim, so that I felt confident in what I was trying to do, particularly with Jim active at my side, giving me his undivided attention, unlike many of the other instructors I have seen “helping” their students.

Not only were the lessons progressive, well structured and well planned, they were just as importantly enjoyable. Jim was always polite and professional, but above that friendly and great company, and I soon found myself looking forward to lessons rather than them becoming a chore. The warm atmosphere also gave me great confidence, and I was always found myself looking forward to lessons; to learn and progress in the confidence that Jim would make the experience enjoyable and pleasant.

All of the effort by Jim, and his encouragement towards me, meant that I was able to pass my driving test, safe in the knowledge that Jim had put me forward knowing I was ready and would pass. It almost came as surprise to me that Jim suggested I put in for my test, but his reassurance and teaching methods meant that I was more than ready, passing first time with little hassle. I'd also like to thank Jim for all his help in getting me to test, going far beyond the call of duty and what was expected. Jim's more than just a great instructor, he's also a great person, and I was lucky enough to have the great experience of him teaching me to drive.

"After searching for hours on the internet for a driving instructor it was one of my mum’s friends that recommended Jim. I took a look at the website and decided to book a lesson with him to see what he was like. It surprised me how much faith he had in my ability even at an early stage. I think this along with his good sense of humour and obvious teaching ability makes him an excellent choice for a driver instructor.

"I would like to start by saying I highly recommend Jim to anyone who seriously wants to pass their test and become a safe driver with the minimum of hassle.

If you are learning to drive then you need to be aware that not all driving instructors are the same.  I was put off learning to drive for months because of my previous driving instructor’s unprofessionalism. I really did start to feel at a loss. I couldn't believe how unlucky I'd been especially when one of the instructors had been recommended to me.

I went on the internet one day, knowing exactly what I wanted from a new instructor - someone professional and trustworthy who would see me safely through my test. I came upon Jim's web site and after viewing the ‘testimonials page,’ both my husband and I agreed this was the instructor for me.

Two weeks after I passed my test I drove on the M25 (not too hard as the traffic was practically at a standstill), the M4 and then later along some very nice interesting bendy lanes in the heart of Waterford, Ireland.
